Experiencing the Love of God in Ilfracombe, England
As Awaken North Devon drew to a close, we reflected on a simple but profound thought: while we can count attendance, conversations, and response cards, much of what God has done this week simply cannot be measured.
For months, churches from across North Devon had prayed, planned and prepared together with one shared desire: to help people encounter Jesus. Those months of preparation came to life as schools welcomed our teams, communities opened their doors, volunteers served side by side, and hundreds of people attended a wide variety of events across Ilfracombe.
From school visits and street outreach to a community lunch, a youth concert, a women's event and the final celebration at the Landmark Theatre, every gathering offered opportunities for people to hear the Gospel, ask questions, receive prayer, and experience the love of God in tangible ways.
One of the greatest joys of the week was seeing churches from many different traditions serving together with remarkable unity. That spirit of collaboration was evident everywhere, from teams praying together before events, to volunteers welcoming guests, serving refreshments, chatting with people after meetings, and following up with those who wanted to know more about Jesus.
Long after our team has returned home, it will be these local churches who continue the conversations and walk alongside those beginning or renewing a journey of faith.

Wendy spoke at the women's event with warmth, honesty, and compassion, sharing both the hope of the Gospel and God's faithfulness through life's joys and struggles. With music from Leah McFall, the evening created space for women to reflect, ask questions, and encounter God's love in a deeply personal way.
Many gathered at the Landmark Theatre, where Andrew took to the stage and shared the Good News of Jesus, inviting those in the crowd to place their hope in God.
Throughout the week, there was a growing sense among the team that people were being gently drawn towards Jesus. Some were hearing the Gospel for the first time. Others were returning to a faith they had drifted away from years before. Still others simply found themselves asking questions they had never previously considered.
Beyond the programs, music, and conversations, there was a quiet but unmistakable sense of God's love being experienced by people in deeply personal ways. It is difficult to quantify, but again and again we witnessed people leaving with renewed hope, fresh peace, or a growing awareness that God had not forgotten them.
