A City Once Closed to the Gospel, Now Open and Responding
TiranaFest marked a historic moment for Albania’s capital city. Once closed to Christianity under communist rule, Tirana opened its heart to the Gospel during a bold, city-centered campaign led by Andrew and Wendy Palau. Held June 27–28 in the iconic Skanderbeg Square, TiranaFest united the majority of evangelical churches in the area and mobilized hundreds of local believers to serve and share the love of Jesus.
More than 16,000 people were reached in person through a week of targeted outreach—business and civic leader dinners, a women’s gathering, a prison outreach, and finally, two nights of music, action sports, family fun, and Gospel proclamation in the city’s most visible location. The result? Over 2,000 individuals responded to the Gospel, both in person and online through a robust digital evangelism strategy that reached thousands more across Albania.
In partnership with local churches and believers, the Palau team is now helping launch new Evangelism Teams to sustain the momentum. Tirana is no longer a closed city—it’s a beacon of hope and a testimony of what God can do when the Church unites to proclaim His name.
“We’re happy to see that [Palau is] not coming here and leaving. We have a long-term plan and strategy to continue what you guys have already planted here."

Skanderbeg Square came alive with worship, joy, and the Gospel. For many, it was the first time hearing the message of Jesus, right in the heart of Albania’s capital city.

At the women’s event, Wendy shared her story—along with the Gospel—with nearly 300 women, leading 217 people to respond to the Good News.

230 local leaders attended the Business and Civic Leaders dinner. Andrew shared the Gospel and gave an invitation for people to respond. 140 business and civic leaders responded by filling in response cards, with a mix of first-time Gospel responses, recommits to Christ, questions, and comments.

Our team visited a men’s prison in Tirana with food, supplies, and a message of hope. Many inmates are weary and forgotten, but Jesus hasn’t forgotten them. Through worship, stunt bike shows, and the Gospel, 40 inmates heard the message of Jesus—and 30 responded. Pray for lasting change and for the chaplain continuing this vital work.
