From Prisons to Parks: The Gospel Proclaimed and Lives Transformed in Reno-Tahoe

More than 20 years ago, we saw God move in Reno through a Palau festival, leading to lasting fruit as people gave their lives to Christ. This year, we were invited back for another festival where more than 130 churches and businesses partnered together to reach their region with the Good News.

During the festival week, the Gospel went out to every sector of society through a Men’s BBQ, Stories of Hope Women’s Outreach, Prison Ministry, and Festival of Hope (Native American Festival). People responded to the Good News at each of the outreaches, but it was especially powerful in the prisons. In Carson City, 30 men responded to Christ as Andrew Palau shared his personal testimony alongside the Gospel. In Las Vegas, 60 women made decisions for Jesus as Wendy Palau and Rachael Lampa ministered through worship and testimony.

The festival took place on August 23 and 24. Even though Reno-Tahoe CityFest brought thunder and rain, that didn’t stop crowds from coming to Rancho San Rafael Park for action sports, kids’ activities, and music. Each night, Andrew shared the truth that God loves each person in the crowd, giving His Son for their freedom and salvation. In total, 794 people responded to the Gospel throughout the week!

This truly is a movement of God, and it’s been such an exciting process just to be on a two-and-a-half year listening tour to try to understand how churches see God moving in their presence and in the community at large.
