CELEBRATING THOUSANDS REACHED IN EGYPT

It was a privilege to once again be invited by Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church to work with 130 Egyptian churches to help accomplish the Count It Right Festival just outside Cairo, Egypt.

The 3-day, multi-faceted festival was held at Beit El Wadi, an extraordinary sports camp owned and operated by Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church. During the 3-day festival, more than 17 tents housed activities and experiences for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. From visual arts to drama, family counseling to action sports, there was something for everyone. Each night culminated in a large gathering of several thousand people where Andrew and Pastor Sameh took turns sharing a clear Gospel message.

Throughout the weekend – twice a day, six times total – Wendy also shared in special breakout sessions for women. The focus of her teaching was on biblical encounters between Jesus and women from the New Testament. She was able to encourage each group to find their true identity in how Jesus sees them.

Praise God with us! As a result of the effort, more than 3,800 people responded to the Good News and are now being followed up by local churches

Gathering in Cairo

This year’s campaign in Egypt marked 24 years since Luis Palau was first invited by Kasr El-Dobara Church to preach in the capital city of Cairo in 1998. That campaign reached thousands of people face-to-face in the heart of the city and shared the Good News nationwide through a groundbreaking new model including hundreds of satellite events.

Ten years later, in 2007, Andrew was invited to return to Egypt, working with the same church network to engage in a new festival model for outreach. The campaign reached thousands and was continued year after year. This year's event similarly had immense impact in Egypt, leading to the continuation of encouragement and blessings for the local churches and further expanding the reach through live satellite broadcasts.

Just two years ago, right before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the world, Andrew and Wendy returned to Egypt for a campaign that reached 15,000 people in person and featured 10 outreaches to different sectors of society — men, women, and children.
